The European Environment for Scientific Software Installations (EESSI) is now available on the TU/e Umbrella HPC Cluster, giving all users access to a large, shared collection of optimized scientific software.

This HPC School is made possible through the collaboration between the TU/e Supercomputing Center, SURF, & EuroCC Netherlands.

TU/e Supercomputing Center (SCC) and EAISI now host sovereign LLMs on Spike-1 — an NVIDIA DGX B200 system owned by TU/e — and open access to all TU/e researchers over an internal API, no vendor in between.

The TU/e Umbrella HPC Cluster will be undergoing scheduled maintenance, from: Monday 24 August 2026, 09:00 CET to Friday 28 August 2026, 17:00 CET.

The entire cluster will be offline during this period. Please make sure your jobs finish before the maintenance starts, or that they can safely be interrupted and rerun.

Across Dutch and European academia, multiple initiatives are currently underway to host, operate, and govern LLMs locally, driven by concerns around data sovereignty, sustainability, cost, transparency, and responsible use. This 4TU.NIRICT-funded workshop brings together currently siloed academic hosting initiatives across Dutch institutions (eg, Delft, TU/e, VU, WUR, SURF) to foster knowledge exchange, technical alignment, and collaboration around LLM inference infrastructure.
